Take Good Care Of The Heifers, Farmers Advised
The Resident District Commissioner Kiryandongo, Peter Debele has asked the beneficiaries of OWC heifers to take good care of the cows they have received from government so as to ensure their productivity.
While handing over 21 heifers to 21 beneficiaries from different sub-counties and town councils on 18/04/2019 at RDC’s boardroom, Peter Debele said the criteria of identifying the beneficiaries was not based on political parties but rather the capacity to manage the cows when received.
He also cautioned the beneficiaries against sale of the heifers as well as change of the known location of the heifers. “if we find a cow in a location which is not in the records, we shall arrest you and charge you with theft by trick.” Debele warned farmers.
During the same function, Charles Ntairehoki Amooti the District Chairman urged the farmers to make good use of extension workers so as to increase agricultural productivity especially milk production. “We must be grateful to the government of Uganda for the services it is extending to the people. Recently the extension workers were given motorcycles to ensure they reach all the farmers, so make good use of them.” Ntairehoki said.
The 21 heifers distributed to the farmers are part of the phased distribution of 200 cows to Kiryandongo district under operation wealth creation.
