Kiryandongo Receives New CAO
Kiryandongo district local government has received a new Chief Administrative Officer following the transfer of Ismael Ochengel to Gulu district local government.
While addressing the staff of Kiryandongo district during the handover ceremony on Monday March 14,2022 at the district headquarters, Martin Jacan Gwokto the Chief Administrative Officer pledged commitment to service delivery during his tenure in office.
Ismael Ochengel the former CAO thanked the political and technical staff for their cooperation and positive attitude towards work which enabled him serve Kiryandongo diligently.
At the time of Ochengel’s handover, Kiryandongo was ranked as the best Development Response to Displacement Impact Project-DRDIP implementing district in Uganda with 268 sub projects worth 26 billion shillings.
However, Ochengel decried the limited Primary health care funds received by the district annually which can only handle one meagre infrastructural project in a fiscal year. “The health sector is crippled by limited PHC funds, the only way out has been through DRDIP which has constructed maternity wards and OPDs but up to now these structures at Apodorwa HCII and Kaduku HCII respectively have not been equipped.” Ochengel noted. He further noted that the pupil: teacher ratio in the district has tripled the national standard because the teachers ceiling has not been addressed.
According to Edith Aliguma Adyeri the district Chairperson, Ochengel will be missed by Kiryandongo fraternity for his generosity as well as good counsel to the district council which has helped in avoiding any litigations.
