Kiryandongo Inspects Karuma Hydro Power Project
Kiryandongo District local government officials have inspected the Karuma Hydro Power Project so as to establish the progress of implementation.
The team of officials led by the Chairman LCV, Charles Ntairehoki and the CAO, David Wamburu Wasikye included the local council leaders from the sub counties, town councils as well as the technical staff.
According to Charles Ntairehoki, the Chairperson LCV Kiryandongo, there was a need for the District council to visit the project so as they get to know of the ongoing projects in the District. He adds that the District council is impressed by the speed at which SINO Hydro has constructed the project.
David Wamburu Wasikye the Chief Administrative Officer KIryandongo says the inspection provided an ideal opportunity for the District council as a key stakeholder in the successful implementation of the project to interact with SINO Hydro the contractor as well as strengthening the partnerships. Wamburu adds that the project has greatly contributed to the development of the District in terms of offering employment opportunities to the people as well as generation of local service tax.
Tonny Obonyo, the Legal Officer SINO Hydro says the 600MW project completion is December 2018 as per the contract though not sure whether it will be possible due to different factors but SINO Hydro remains hopeful and further communications about the completion of the project will be made.
Kiryandongo officials during the inspection of Karuma Hydro Power Project
