Kigumba-Katamarwa-Apodorwa Road Takes Shape

Authorities in Kiryandongo district have monitored the 1.097 billion 22 KM Kigumba-Apodorwa-Katamarwa road which is being constructed under Development Response to Displacement Impact Project. The monitoring was aimed at identifying areas for improvement as well as generating feedback from the communities along the road. The road whose construction was launched on September 01,2020 is expected to be commissioned in March 2021 upon completion by the contractor.

While addressing the residents of Apodorwa trading center on Tuesday December 01,2020, Charles Ntairehoki Amooti the district chairman asked the community to own the road and ensure it is protected against animal movements which was likely to reduce the durability of the road. Ntairehoki also called upon them to take advantage of the newly constructed road which will ease access to market centers and other social services hence improving on their livelihoods.

Ismael Ochengel the CAO Kiryandongo applauded the communities along the road for participating in monitoring of the road works. Ochengel added that community participation is a sign of ownership of the road and this was to help in ensuring that the road was protected after completion.

Abbas Lumago the chairman LCI Katamarwa asked the contract manager to ensure that humps are installed along the road upon completion so as to reduce the risk of accidents and theft by speeding vehicles.
