The Government is on Course, CAO Assures Committee
The Chief Administrative Officer Kiryandongo has assured the parliamentary committee on government assurance that the government of Uganda is on course as regards fulfilling the project promises made to the people of Kiryandongo district.
David Wamburu Wasikye, the CAO Kiryandongo was addressing the members of the Committee on government assurance on September 18, 2018 at the district headquarters who had paid a visit to Kiryandongo to monitor and find out the extent of implementation of the promises made on the floor of parliament in relation to Kiryandongo.
Among the promises the committee was following up was the 2011 Karuma hydro power project which is 70 percent complete,2011 renovation of Kiryandongo general hospital which was donel,2011 establishment of Health Centre 3s and health Centre 2s per sub county and parish respectively of which Kiryandongo has only 5 Health Centre 3s established in five out of eight sub counties. Upgrading of the Kigumba-Masindi road a promise made in 2014 and work is in progress.
However, Wamburu noted cases of unresolved compensation issues by the people affected by the construction of the Karuma hydro power station.
Kaps Hassan Fungaroo the chairperson of the committee also a Member of Parliament for Obongi county, Moyo district said that it is always an obligation of government to fulfill all the promises made on the floor of parliament and his committee is responsible for following up on the promises and reminding the government of the unfulfilled promises. He also urged the political leaders and technical team of Kiryandongo to always monitor government projects and ensure value for money and avoid shoddy work done by contractors.
